From Cebu City to Tuburan via Transcentral Highway and vice-versa

Take a V-hire in Ayala Center Cebu terminal going to Tuburan. The terminal also caters van for hire going to Balamban and Asturias which are adjacent municipalities. However, there’s really no need to worry for dispatchers are informative and will direct you to the van you need to hop in. The fare is pretty decent for just two hundred forty pesos (Php 240.00) for a one-way trip. The trip is approximately two hours via the trans-central high-way.

V-hires from Cebu City travels from 5am to 8pm. Depending on some occasions like holidays where they have to travel more frequently from 5am until 11pm. The travel from the city depends on the passengers and not dependent on the time. However, v-hires that are from Tuburan Terminal travel by hour starting 4am until 5pm. Remember to be early if you wish to not have an overnight stay in Tuburan but still want to enjoy snorkeling.

From Cebu City to Tuburan via Naga-Toledo route and vice versa

Take a bus in the South Bus Terminal located in N. Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City, 6000 Cebu, just near Elizabeth Mall (E-Mall). The bus travels from 3am to 6pm on regular days and may extend their travel time during important holidays such as Christmas and New Year.

The travel time is approximately 4 hours following the Naga-Toledo route. This route is most convenient to travelers who are from Minglanilla, Talisay, and Naga, who doesn’t want to go through the hassle of travelling from their place to Ayala Center Cebu terminal. The fare for each person is two hundered pesos (Php 200.00).

From Cebu City to Tuburan via Sogod-Logo-Tabuelan route and vice versa

North lads, you may opt to take a Ceres bus from North Bus Terminal located in Mandaue City, Cebu. The bus travels from 3am to 6pm on regular days and may occasionally travel extended hours during important seasons. Fare is for each person is two hundred pesos (Php 200.00) which is slightly higher compared to SBT bus because Ceres buses are air-conditioned.

Travel time is also approximately 4 hours. Both buses travel by hour and are not dependent on the number of passengers. But make sure that you are not to travel on an eleventh hour because last trips buses are usually very crowded and may not have enough space for everyone to sit.

Once in Tuburan

Upon arrival, there are plethora of options waiting for you. You may opt to ride a tricycle, or a motorcycle “habal-habal” going to Brgy. Sto.Nino. The “habal-habal” fare is fifty pesos (Php 70.00) for a single rider and forty pesos (Php 50.00) each if you ride a tricycle. But it depends on how you bargain especially if there are many of you in a group.

The more passengers, the lesser the fare will be, and of course the happier.
Inform the driver that you wish to be in the barangay’s covered court. The snorkeling spot is just behind the covered court and locals are familiar with it, and are very welcoming and kind.

Of course, to enjoy snorkeling, make sure you have your snorkeling gear/s with you and slippers that are suitable for swimming to protect your feet from sea urchins. Yes, there are few sea urchins in the place. This is an indicator that the environment is suitable for their survival. And isn’t it a bonus, too? If you and your pals are a fan, you probably have an instant menu add-on.

When is the perfect time to try the wonderful obsession?

Midwest’s snorkeling paradise – sto.niño, is definitely not for people who does not know how to swim especially during high tide. But if you love diving, then this the perfect time as sea level rises up until the highest part where the old watch house sits. High tide during this time of the year happens from 10am-to 3pm with 12pm being the highest tide. But make sure to check the calendar for exact or approximate time of the highest tide. The snorkeling spot is a bit further and deeper which could be dangerous.

Moreover, the best time to enjoy snorkeling is during low tide. Low tide starts from 3pm until sunset time and few hours beyond. You’ll be able to enjoy the coral reefs, several of which are still alive and healthy. There are also different species of fishes which are very enjoyable to watch and swim with.
